July 1, 2014 - Canada Day on the Richelieu

Auberge Handfield
Latest update from this morning (July 2) - Al and Matt just had a sumptuous breakfast at Auberge Handfield in Saint-Marc-sur-Richelieu

Al and Matt rowed 28 miles at a leisurely pace dictated by the locks of the Chambly Canal. The Canal was quiet, but the river was absolute madness, full of speeding boats and jet skis as everyone celebrated Canada Day.

not on Canada Day
They spent a comfortable night at a campground north of Beloeil despite winds of 30-40 mph and tornado warnings.

Only 2 more locks and about 30 miles to go before they reach Sorel and the Saint Lawrence!
